REFLEXIONS
Paris - France, 2023
From September 15 to November 15, 2023, the Palais Royal gardens in Paris hosted a groundbreaking glass installation, RÉFLEXIONS, created by Atelier Barrois. This monumental work, featuring 8 tons of glass and 6,000 meters of intertwined prisms, was the first of its kind in the world and set the stage for future exhibitions in the USA and Japan.
This installation pays tribute to builders and invites visitors to a unique and contemplative experience. It prompts reflection on humanity’s role in shaping the future, exploring the interplay between the material (the artwork itself) and the immaterial (refracted light).
Atelier Barrois achieved a remarkable technical feat with this monumental work. The glass scaffolding, a global premiere, combines scientific precision with artistic vision. Its "light trap" design immerses spectators in a sensory journey, as rainbow reflections dance across surrounding surfaces.
The assembly process involved crafting small stainless-steel stars with tiny nodes to secure and hold the glass bars through both mechanical fastening and adhesive methods. Designed to withstand winds exceeding 100 km/h, this installation is a testament to both engineering and artistic innovation.
