Portes de la cathédrale de Nîmes

Nîmes, 2017

An architectural highlight, a contemporary artistic gesture, a precious object, an urban signal: the new monumental glass doors of Nîmes Cathedral are all these things at the same time.
This achievement marks the desire to ensure that this building, which will soon be a thousand years old, is also in tune with our times.

Each dot is engraved in the glass by hand and treated with gold leaf. The cloud of dots, all different, evokes the people of God converging on the heavenly Jerusalem. The ideal city is represented here by a central golden sphere with biblical symbols engraved in the metal.
