Monumental glass doors of the Nîmes Cathedral

Nîmes, 2017

The monumental glass doors of the Nîmes Cathedral combine elements of architecture, contemporary artistic expression, refined craftsmanship, and an urban landmark. This project embodies the desire to integrate this nearly thousand-year-old building into the present era.

Each point is meticulously engraved in the glass by hand and adorned with gold leaf. This array of unique points symbolizes the people of God converging towards the heavenly Jerusalem. The ideal city is represented here by a central golden sphere, which features biblical symbols engraved in the metal.
