Creation
Eugénie’s Confusion, GUERLAIN
France, 2013
This object, made for the private collections of the perfumer Guerlain marks the 160th anniversary of the famous Bee Bottle, created for the wedding of Napoleon III.
The complex shapes of this piece, its enigmatic reflections, evoke the confused and unfathomable feelings relating to the thwarted destiny of the Empress Eugenie.

Technique
The slab of black glass framed in stainless steel was achieved through thermal compression moulding of the glass. The “pools” of perfume were fashioned from solid glass blocks and polished by hand.
