Creation
Common Art Project
Chiba – Japon, 2012
At this experimental school just outside Tokyo, children are immersed in the arts from the earliest possible age.
In collaboration with the architect, the glass panels were inspired by piano pieces composed by Claude Debussy and Erik Satie. Resembling a piano keyboard, the red and white glass keys bring rhythm and movement to the openings and exterior façade. They transform the interior space with a play of unexpected and ever-changing illuminated projections.
Technique
Each window has two glass panes set a few centimetres apart from each other.
Sheets of handmade coloured glass were stuck onto each pane of industrial extra-white glass.
